Mike Tomlin’s team won the AFC North a year ago but don’t seem to be in the favorite roles to repeat. Will it be an unpredictable year for the Pittsburgh Steelers?

The team has won all three of its preseason games in 2021. That and a few dollars will get you a cup of coffee and maybe a doughnut.

No franchise has won more regular-season games and division titles since the merger than the Pittsburgh Steelers. But another kind of consistency has become commonplace as of late for the Black and Gold. Late-season collapses each of the past three seasons has head coach Mike Tomlin taking heat from some corners.

But it’s another year in the NFL. So here are some things that could happen this season which may surprise you.

3. Team will finish in the NFL’s Top 10 in rushing yards

In 2018, Mike Tomlin’s club finished with the second-fewest rushing yards that season. Things wouldn’t get much better the following year as only three teams in the NFL gained fewer yards on the ground. And despite a decent start this past season, the Pittsburgh Steelers finished dead last in the league when it came to gaining yards via the run.

Hence a revamped offensive line featuring a slew of new starters. And University of Alabama standout Najee Harris was the club’s first-round draft choice in April. Look for dramatic improvement in this area as veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should benefit from new coordinator Matt Canada’s approach.
