First-Team Defense

DL: Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon
DL: Haskell Garrett, Ohio State
DL: Bryan Breese, Clemson
DL: DeMarvin Leal, Texas A&M
LB: Will Anderson, Alabama
LB: Nik Bonitto, Oklahoma
LB: Devin Lloyd, Utah
DB: Derek Stingley Jr., LSU
DB: Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame
DB: Ahmad Gardner, Cincinnati
DB: Brandon Joseph, Northwestern

Good luck trying to move the ball on this defensive line. The preseason first-team defensive line is headlined by Oregon superstar Kayvon Thibodeaux and Clemson’s sensational sophomore Bryan Breese. Helping make this the four horsemen of a 2021 college football quarterback’s apocalypse are Haskell Garrett out of Ohio State and DeMarvin Leal out of Texas A&M. This is nightmare fuel.

Playing behind this most fearsome foursome is a trio of talented linebackers who help make up one of the most ferocious front-sevens you will ever see in college football. Your three preseason first-team All-American linebackers are Will Anderson out of Alabama, Nik Bonitto out of Oklahoma and Devin Lloyd out of Utah. You have speed and versatility with this linebacking corps.

Finally, you might as well call this secondary the No Fly Zone. Denver Broncos fans may beg to differ, but how can you argue with this quartet in the back-end?: LSU phenom Derek Stingley Jr., Notre Dame’s best player Kyle Hamilton, the best player out of the Group of Five in Cincinnati’s Ahmad Gardner and the best defensive back in the Big Ten in Northwestern’s Brandon Joseph.

First-Team Special Teams

K: Cade York, LSU
P: Jake Camarda, Georgia
R: Marcus Jones, Houston
AP: Jerrion Ealy, Ole Miss

Who says special teams are not important? People and teams that lose, that’s who! Kicking field goals on the first team is Cade York out of LSU. Georgia’s Jake Camarda is punting bombs to set the defense up for success. Returning kicks will be Marcus Jones out of Houston. And since we need a guy who can do a bit of everything, Ole Miss’ Jerrion Ealy satisfies the all-purpose role.

While the first team is very impressive, the preseason All-American second team is strong as well.
