More concern has arrived for the Dallas Cowboys, as two new players have tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Leading up to the regular season opener, the Dallas Cowboys have a bit of a COVID-19 situation on their hands. The team had already been hit with some rough news in terms of positive cases, but things were just made worse on Wednesday.

That’s because both safety Domante Kazee and offensive lineman Connor Williams have tested positive for the Coronavirus. That now brings the Dallas total to six players, while defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has also tested positive.

The Cowboys now have six players who have recently tested positive for COVID-19

Prior to the Williams and Kazee news, head coach Mike McCarthy had previously been informed that wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, safety Malik Hooker, safety Israel Mukuamu and defensive tackle Carlos Watkins were positive too.

Things were only made worse with Quinn sidelined too. Now, all six players, plus Quinn, will need to follow all the NFL’s COVID protocols before they can re-join the team ahead of the Sept. 9 tilt with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This includes Williams and Kazee needing to isolate and also test negative for the virus before they can put the pads back on and return to the practice field with the rest of their teammates. With this breakout happening for the Cowboys, McCarthy can only hope that more difficult updates won’t be on the way. Who knows who was in close contact with Williams and Kazee before they tested positive.

The new Delta variant has been spreading at an alarming pace and it’s unfortunately hit the Cowboys pretty hard this week. We’ll see if this ends up preventing anyone from suiting up come Week 1 against Brady and Co.
