Cristiano Ronaldo should make his Manchester United debut after the international break when the Red Devils host Newcastle United on Sept. 11.

Manchester United fans will have to wait a couple of weeks to see Cristiano Ronaldo in a red shirt again.

After his shock transfer back to Manchester from Juventus, Ronaldo is likely to make his debut following the international break.

Ronaldo won’t be able to play against Wolves on Sunday before the break, which means his first available opportunity will be on Sept. 11 against Newcastle.

That game will be at Old Trafford, making it an utter treat for match-going United fans. However, Mark Ogden of ESPN wondered if Sky and BT Sports will try to get the Saturday afternoon kickoff moved for the sake of broadcast coverage.

United secured Ronaldo’s services with a deal reported to be around €20 million ($23.5 million). He was unhappy at Juventus and wanted to continue his career somewhere else. Speculation initially centered around Real Madrid, but Manchester United became the club to work out a return instead.

Ronald joined Manchester United for the first time in 2003 with a fee of £12 million ($16.5 million). He made his first appearance against Bolton on Aug. 16 as a substitute and scored his first goal against Portsmouth at the start of November that year.

He went on to score 84 goals in 196 appearances, winning the Ballon D’Or, Champions League and three Premier League titles, before making his big-money move to Real Madrid in 2009.

Now 36 years old, he’ll look to prove he can be just as impactful at the end of his career as he was at the start.

Newcastle will have to face him first knowing his only Manchester United hat trick came against them.
