With the Kansas City Chiefs playing their third preseason game, many fans are wondering whether Patrick Mahomes will play. We have the answer.

Patrick Mahomes has played in the first two Kansas City Chiefs preseason games. He’ll be partaking in the third as well.

On Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings, Mahomes will play the first half, per head coach Andy Reid. This is the first home game for the Chiefs this year, unveiling GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Unlike many coaches, Reid isn’t using August to rest his starters for the purpose of testing depth against other team’s first units. Kansas City played its top guys for the first series (or two in some cases) against the San Francisco 49ers before going a majority of the first half last Friday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Will Patrick Mahomes play for the Chiefs on Friday?

Against the Niners, Mahomes went 1-of-2 for four yards in one series before sitting to watch Chad Henne take over. Last week, the 2018 MVP threw for 78 yards and an interception on 10-of-18 in a win over Arizona.

After Kansas City finishes its preseason slate against the Vikings, the Chiefs get a few weeks off to prepare for the Cleveland Browns, who invade Arrowhead in Week 1 of the regular season, looking to get revenge for a Divisional round defeat in January.

It doesn’t get much easier in the following month for Kansas City, which takes on the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills in three of its ensuing four games.
