In the series finale between the Cubs and White Sox on Sunday, a massive brawl broke out at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Whenever the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox face off, you know there’s going to be serious bragging rights on the line for the fans. The crosstown rivalry sure is a fun one, but things reached a disappointing level on Sunday in the series finale.

That’s because right in the middle of the action, a massive brawl broke out between folks in the stands. In the video below, you can see shoves being exchanged, punches being thrown and beer flying all over the place.

A massive fight broke out between Cubs and White Sox fans

Security sure was having quite the time trying to keep people calm here. This was the textbook definitely of a melee, as the people in the stands indeed did lose all control. Again, tensions are going to be riding high between folks for this rivalry.

In the end, the White Sox came away with a 13-1 victory. With that win, the AL Central side is 76-56 on the year. Meanwhile for the Cubs, the nightmare campaign continues, as David Ross’ men are 57-75.

The White Sox are looking like serious players in the American League and they surely have what it takes to push for a pennant. The opposite can be said for the Cubs, as they’re clearly rebuilding after trading away Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Craig Kimbrel.

It’s easy to see why their fans are so angry, but you never want people to lose control like this. We can only hope nothing like this happens again the next time the two teams face off, but with all the passion and love for both clubs, it wouldn’t be a major shock if this incident repeats itself.
