MLB Network analysts and former MLB stars Al Leiter and John Smoltz will not be allowed in the studio, as they refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

MLB Network reportedly has made it mandatory for all employees to receive the vaccine if they wish to appear in-studio. Since Smoltz and Leiter have not fulfilled this requirement, they will have to film from home.

The pair reached a compromise with MLB Network to continue appearing on shows, but not in person in their Secaucus studios.

The news was originally reported by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, and neither Smoltz nor Leiter responded for comment.

MLB Network sets standard with vaccine mandate

While some MLB teams continue to struggle to meet an 85 percent vaccine threshold, the league’s Network itself is setting a standard. It’s well within their right as a private company to mandate the vaccine, even if some object.

Smoltz and Leiter both hold other positions, as well. Smoltz is an on-air host for FOX, while Leiter is a Mets advisor. Smoltz is in the Baseball Hall of Fame, as well.
