Romain Bardet takes Stage 14 of 2021 La Vuelta a Espana
Romain Bardet won Stage 14, a massive mountain stage, in the 2021 La Vuelta a Espana on Aug. 28.
Romain Bardet finally got what he entered the 2021 La Vuelta a Espana, taking a massive stage win on one of the biggest mountain stages in this year’s race on Stage 14.
It’s his fourth Grand Tour stage win after three other stage wins at Tour de France in recent years.
The stage was 165.7 kilometers long from Don Benito to Pico Villuercas and Bardet managed to get into the breakaway and then become the strongest climber to take the stage.

Bardet dominated the early climbs, taking the maximum amount of points and the lead in the mountain climb classification standings.
He was first over the top on both the Category 3 Puerto Berzocana and the Category 1 Alto Collado de Ballesteros.
Bardet kept catching up to anyone trying to get away from the breakaway group in the last 20 kilometers and xaught up to Prodhomme with six kilometers to go.
He raced out in front and crossed the line 44 seconds ahead of Herrada and Vine.
2021 La Vuelta a Espana overall classification standings
Odd Christian Eiking lost some time to Guillaume Martin but retained the overall lead and the red jersey.
Bardet took over the lead for the mountain points classification as well as his stage win.
