Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers posted a photo on Instagram showing him hugging Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur: “They said we wouldn’t get along.”

Aaron Rodgers wants everyone to know his relationship with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is A-okay.

So he posted a photo to his Instagram story showing him with his arm around LaFleur during practice with the tag line: “They said we wouldn’t get along.”

Aaron Rodgers is cool with Matt LaFleur

A lot of people took the post as a direct shot at Pro Football Talk, which has done a great deal of reporting on the fractured relationship between Rodgers and the Packers. Some even joked about potential ways for PFT to spin the photo as a negative.

Regardless of the PFT angle, Rodgers and the Packers are in a fascinating spot going into the 2021 season. The quarterback threatened not to come back to the team, frustrated with how the team was being managed. However, Green Bay refused to trade him. They eventually convinced him to come back on board.

Now, the Packers are in a fight to convince Rodgers he’s in the best spot for the future. If they can’t by the end of this season, the quarterback will reportedly force a trade next year.

That means Rodgers’ relationship with LaFleur needs to be good and the Packers need to be a Super Bowl contender. Any slip-ups this fall could lead to a whole lot of trouble. Winning is the best cure.

Green Bay’s season begins on Sept. 12 against the Saints. Instead of playing at the Super Dome, they’ll meet in Jacksonville since the impact of Hurricane Ida is still being felt in New Orleans. For a long stretch of this offseason, it looked like Rodgers wouldn’t be at the helm for that game. Now we’ll get to see what he and LaFleur can accomplish.
