Dabo Swinney extra careful not to give Georgia any bulletin-board material
By John Buhler
Dabo Swinney is not about to give the Georgia football team any bulletin-board material.
You have to give Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney a ton of credit by being very careful about not giving the Georgia football fanbase any bulletin-board material ahead of Saturday’s season opener.
Clemson and Georgia meet in Charlotte in the signature game of Labor Day Weekend. Both southeastern powers find themselves ranked inside of the top five at the time of the meeting. The winner of this game will be sitting pretty with a very clear path to the College Football Playoff. He knows this. Why would Swinney want to poke the bear and slight Georgia for no reason at all?
The last thing he needs is to say something dumb to give Dawg Nation something to chew on.

If Clemson wins this game, the Tigers are almost certainly making the playoff for the seventh year in a row as ACC Champions. They would need to lose twice, including in the ACC Championship game vs. either Miami or North Carolina. Keep in mind the Tigers do not play the Hurricanes or the Tar Heels during the regular season. Their biggest threat in conference play is North Carolina State.
Should Georgia win, the Dawgs would only need to win one of the two other tough games on their schedule to get in: Florida in Jacksonville or someone like Alabama or Texas A&M in the SEC Championship. Odds are, we will see both playing in their respective conference title bouts anyway. However, a Georgia loss for Clemson does put their playoff chances in serious jeopardy.
Here is the game on Saturday night between Clemson and Georgia living up to the massive hype.
