Patrick Mahomes is watching college football’s opening weekend with the rest of us, and he can’t wait to play in front of a packed Arrowhead Stadium.

Mahomes and the Chiefs open up at home against the Cleveland Browns next Sunday, but until then the MVP candidate is soaking in all the football he can get.

Kansas City is seen as an obvious favorite to win the Super Bowl this coming season, and at the very least represent the AFC in the big game. The Chiefs possess Mahomes, the best quarterback in football, and improved upon their one obvious weakness in the offensive line. There is no telling where they can go from here.

Mahomes watched the Virginia Tech Hokies entrance to ‘Enter Sandman’ by Metallica, with 70,000 strong cheering them on. Needless to say, he was very pumped.

It turns out Mahomes isn’t doing anything different than you or I on his Friday night — he’s sitting at home, feet kicked back watching the No. 10 team in the country in the UNC Tar Heels face an early road test in Blacksburg.

Mahomes has done all the necessary preparation for the regular season already — there are no more hype videos to make, and very few warm-up passes left to throw. His weapons are ready. His line is ready. His defense is ready and you better be damn sure his play-callers are ready.

It’s time for football.
