MLB playoff bracket: Wild Card games decided
By Scott Rogust
Here is how the MLB playoff bracket will look like.
We have officially entered the month of October, which means that the MLB postseason is right around the corner. With that, every game left on the schedule was important, especially for teams looking to steal a Wild Card berth, or to those teams looking to clinch the top seed in their respective league.
With that in mind, here is how the playoff bracket looks.
MLB playoff bracket
We must start off with the fact that the postseason bracket will consist of five teams in their respective leagues — three division winners and two Wild Card teams. The top seed will face off against the winner of the one-game Wild Card round.
For the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are in a close race for the NL West.
Here is how the American League postseason field would look today:
- AL Wild Card Game: New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox
- AL Division Series: Winner of Boston Red Sox/New York Yankees at (1) Tampa Bay Rays
- AL Division Series: (3) Chicago White Sox at (2) Houston Astros
Now here is the National League field:
- NL Wild Card Game: St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers
- NL Division Series: Winner of St. Louis Cardinals/Los Angeles Dodgers at (1) San Francisco Giants
- NL Division Series: (3) Atlanta Braves at (2) Milwaukee Brewers
