The most mind-blowing stat from Michigan State football’s season-opening victory over Northwestern has to do with Kenneth Walker III’s awesome performance.

Michigan State football proved a lot of people wrong on Friday night when they pulled off a surprise victory over Northwestern. Kenneth Walker III gets most of the credit for that.

The Spartans running back had four touchdowns and 264 yards in the opening outing.

The craziest thing about that rushing total? It was more than any single Michigan State running back managed over the entirety of last season.

In 2020, Jordon Simmons led the team with 219 yards in five games. Connor Heyward had 200 in seven games.

Walker transferred from Wake Forest and made an immediate impact for the Spartans. He’s already proven himself as an upgrade.
