After Ole Miss took down Louisville to open up the season, former Rebels standout A.J. Brown joked the team is ready to take on Alabama.

College football is back and everything feels right in the world. For Ole Miss, the Rebels took down Louisville to open its season with an impressive 43-23 victory over the Louisville Cardinals. For former star receiver and current Tennessee Titan A.J. Brown, he loved what he saw.

So much, in fact, Brown took to Twitter for a classic ‘We want Bama!’ post. Lane Kiffin saw this and sent quite the response to Brown for the world to see. Kiffin quickly pumped the brakes on Brown’s assertion.

Lane Kiffin isn’t ready to try and take down Alabama just yet

While opening up the campaign with a 19-point win is exciting, Kiffin knows he’s got a long way to go before the Rebels can even be mentioned in the same sentence as Nick Saban’s group. After winning the national title last season, the Crimson Tide opened up in 2021 in dominant fashion.

Over the weekend, Alabama took on Miami and left the field with a head-turning 44-13 win. In that victory, Bryce Young lived up to his hype, throwing for 344 yards and four touchdowns. Jameson Williams also looked sharp, posting 126 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Cameron Latu added two receiving scores as well.

Miami was hoping to try and record an upset, but there was just no way Saban was going to let that happen. Alabama is looking like the top team in the country once again. No one is going to want to face this team this year.

Ole Miss will head to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 2 to try and shock the college football world. The Crimson Tide will surely be ready to make Brown regret his tweet.
