FanDuel NFL 2021: Best lineup for Week 1
By Nick Villano
Running Backs: Dalvin Cook $9,400
Since there are so many deals to be had on Fanduel this week, one could afford to splurge on one of the most expensive options in the entire week. Both Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook are great plays in Week 1 seeing as they are both fully healthy and ready to go against weak defenses, but we sided with Cook just because of the $1,000 savings you see.
Cook started off “slow” last season after surprisingly missing Week 1, but that won’t be the case this year. Expect a heavy dose of Cook against an overmatched Cincinnati Bengals defense. Joe Burrow is also coming off a major knee injury and he could be in for a rough day. That could lead to good field position for Cook, who might even throw in multiple cheap touchdowns.
Raheem Mostert $6,100
Raheem Mostert seems like the most forgotten starting running back in fantasy this season. He was a monster for the San Francisco 49ers when healthy. In the first two games of last season, he scored 25 and 18 points respectively. Obviously, the rest of his season wasn’t the best as he was in and out of the lineup, but now he’s back to being the top dog.
Trey Sermon is going to take some carries, but Kyle Shanahan is a smart coach who is going to focus on his veterans to make things easier on the quarterback. A quarterback that he hasn’t named as starter, by the way. That is only going to help as defenses are going to spend most of the week focusing on playing against two different styles of quarterbacks. That will give Mostert ample opportunity to take advantage of the Lions defense.
Other options: Derrick Henry $8,900, Antonio Gibson $7,000
