Josh Jacobs needs to play like a Pro Bowl running back vs. the Ravens to win

For the Raiders to keep pace with the vaunted Baltimore rushing attack, they must fight fire with fire. That means third-year pro running back Josh Jacobs needs to have a monster game for the Silver and Black. While he is a two-time 1,000-yard rusher in as many seasons for the Raiders, the 2020 Pro Bowler needs to continue to play like one if Las Vegas wants any shot to win this game.

This is all about dictating tempo for the Raiders offense. If they can attack the usually strong Ravens defense with a punishing ground game headlined by Jacobs, it will go a long way in their upset bid of Baltimore. Though he does not have to be a 100-yard rusher in this game, it is hard to see the Raiders winning this one if he does not approach the century mark on the ground Monday.

Overall, it is more about philosophy than sheer production for the Raiders. They need to match the Ravens’ physicality in all three phases if they want to get an impressive Week 1 victory. Having the home crowd there to cheer them on in a primetime spot has to be huge. Though the Raiders do need balance on offense to some degree, Jacobs and rushing attack must be a primary focal point.

If Jacobs wants to be viewed as the best running back playing in this game, he must go prove it.
