Chris Wormley

Stephon Tuitt will not be active against the Bills, as he is dealing with personal issues following the death of his brother earlier this year. Not having one of the stars of their defense will leave the Steelers looking elsewhere for production.

Wormley was acquired last offseason from Baltimore, but dealt with injuries that limited his snaps in the rotation. Now that he has had a full camp and looked good in exhibition play, Pittsburgh will be relying on him, along with Heyward and Tyson Alualu, to clog gaps on the interior.

He saw more action toward the end of 2020, specifically in the Steelers’ regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns. He fits into what the Steelers do schematically, and having a full offseason with the team and the system has done wonders for him and his role in Keith Butler’s defense

With how Wormley looked through the preseason, there’s no reason to believe he can’t give the Steelers solid production in relief of Tuitt. That’s not to say he’ll be as good as Pittsburgh’s star defensive lineman, but the production Wormley can give when at his best can help the Steelers. They’ll need every ounce of it against a good Buffalo offensive line that will try to keep their MVP candidate quarterback as clean as possible.
