For St. Louis Cardinals hurler Adam Wainwright, seeing his old friend Albert Pujols back at Busch Stadium was incredibly special for him.

The series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers this week has been so amazing to see at Busch Stadium. No, it’s not because this means two NL powerhouses are squaring off.

It’s because Albert Pujols is back home at his old stomping grounds. Pujols is still loved by so many in St. Louis. This includes Cards hurler Adam Wainwright. When asked what it means to have Pujols back in town, Wainwright couldn’t help but get emotional about things.

If you’re a Cardinals fan, you’ve got to share those same thoughts as Wainwright. Pujols meant so much to the team when he was in St. Louis, helping the club win it all in 2006 and 2011. On top of that, he also won MVP three times.

Now that he’s with the Dodgers, Pujols is hoping to win another World Series this fall. For the Cardinals, it’s not looking like they’ll be playing in the postseason. If they miss out on the playoffs, while it may be tough for fans to root for the Dodgers, they’ll no question want to see Pujols have success.

After he was released by the Angels, the Dodgers wasted little time in inking him to a new deal. On the season, Pujols is hitting .236, with 17 homers and 49 RBI. Despite his climbing age, Pujols continues to make plays at the plate. He’s still got an incredible amount of power.

The rest of the season, Pujols will continue to keep impressing, while hoping to grab one more title before he eventually retires. Folks in St. Louis will be watching closely.
