With the Philadelphia Eagles all set to take on the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday, there’s hope among the fanbase they can pull off an upset.Â
You’d be hard-pressed to find a fanbase more passionate than the Philadelphia Eagles supporters. With the 2021 season finally here, that bunch is ready to see the Eagles try and take down the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.
It won’t be easy, of course, but Philly sure has what it takes to get the job done. In this piece, we take a look at five keys to victory for first-year head coach Nick Sirianni’s men, of course including the play of Jalen Hurts.
5 ways the Eagles can handle the Falcons in Week 1
5. Jalen Hurts going out and proving his doubters wrong
Entering his first full season as the starting quarterback for the Eagles, Jalen Hurts has countless haters out there. Truly, there are so many folks who claim he’s not worthy of a QB1 job in this league. Did they not see what he was able to do at the end of last season?
Hurts is a gamer. The young man knows how to win and his work ethic is tough to match. Now that he’s been given the keys to the Eagles offense, he’s going to try and hurt the opposition with both his strong right arm and his wheels.
While Hurts is only in his second year in the league, he’s received plenty of positive feedback from the veterans inside the Eagles locker room. Again, Hurts acts well beyond his age and maturity isn’t a question for him.
Going up against the Falcons, Hurts will be looked at to take things to a new level and make plays in tight situations. With Atlanta’s crowd trying to get in his head too, things won’t be easy. With that said, if Hurts can stay poised and play to his abilities, the Eagles will be in this one.
