In true Pittsburgh fashion, recently-signed Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt speaks directly to fans on Twitter as he celebrates monstrous contract extension.

As the NFL world buzzes over the league-wide implications of T.J. Watt’s contract extension, Watt himself has finally spoken on the matter — and he speaks directly to Steelers nation with this particular Tweet.

Using distinctive Western Pennsylvania vernacular, Watt tells fans he’d like to stay a while “if it’s ok with Yinz.” For those unfamiliar, yinz functions as a collective second-person pronoun — or, in simpler terms, it’s Pittsburgh’s equivalent of the Southern y’all.

It’s a personal touch from a passionate Steelers player eager to rep the black and yellow for another four seasons. Through his newly-inked deal, Watt will earned $112 million over the next four years, averaging $28.003 million per year and $80 million guaranteed. The payday makes Watt the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, hence the animated tweet.

Since following future Hall of Fame brother J.J. Watt into the NFL in 2017, the younger Watt has made a name for himself as a formidable edge rusher. To date, Watt has 49.5 career sacks, 111 quarterback hits, 230 total tackles and eight total turnovers (four interceptions and four fumble recoveries), not to mention becoming the NFL sack leader in 2020.

Watt’s performance last season garnered a Defensive Player of the Year nomination only second to Aaron Donald. It was a snub that J.J. Watt publicly called out following the awards ceremony.

Although he didn’t get DPOY, Watt makes NFL history and millions upon millions to kick off the 2021 season.
