Anderson Silva put Tito Ortiz to sleep in round 1 (video)
It only took Anderson Silva one round to knock out Tito Ortiz cold on the primary undercard of the Triller Fight Club Legends II event.
Former UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz was an underdog heading into his boxing debut against fellow former MMA champion Anderson Silva, but things went off the rails fast for Ortiz.
Silva (2-1, 1KOs) had several boxing bouts under his belt, but he showed out on the primary undercard of the Triller Fight Club pay-per-view event, which featured Evander Holyfield against Vitor Belfort. Both Silva and Ortiz are 46 years old, but Ortiz went to sleep early on Sept. 11.
Making his way to the ring, Ortiz looked awkward on his feet, moving around the ring. He looked like a wrestler headed into a boxing bout.
Anderson Silva may have scored a Knockout of the Year contender against Tito Ortiz
The result mimicked that assessment.
In the final 40 seconds of the round, Ortiz turned his back and was caught in the corner. Silva took advantage and caught Ortiz with a left hook that turned off his lights.
Before Ortiz hit the ground, Silva tagged him with a few more shots that sent Ortiz to the canvas unconscious. It was more lopsided than anyone predicted.
Don’t expect Ortiz to visit a boxing ring anytime soon. Silva alluded to retirement, but after that knockout, he may want to reconsider.
