Michigan football hasn’t deviated from the course with uniforms often but will give fans a rare uniform combination for their big night game vs. Washington.

Anyone heading to Ann Arbor and the Big House to watch Michigan football knows exactly what uniform combination they’re going to see from the Wolverines. In addition to the iconic maize and blue helmets, it’s almost always been the blue jerseys with maize pants when playing at home.

But the football program has been teasing a rare combination leading up to their big Week 2 matchup with Washington on Saturday, a look that has only been used once in Michigan football history. On Saturday, however, it’ll have been used twice as the Wolverines are prepared to break out the all-blue look against the Huskies.

The official Michigan football Instagram account posted a video with safety RJ Moten in the uniform combination with a caption simply stating: the forecast is calling for clear BLUE skies.

It’s always cool when a college football program, particularly one with the rich history of Michigan, breaks out a new look. And doing so for a big primetime night game only makes things cooler.

Michigan football is going to provide an iconic visual for Wolverines fans against Washington.

If there was ever a time to break out the all-blue uniform combination — outside of for a game against Ohio State or in the postseason — this would be it. The Wolverines are in primetime against a high-profile Power 5 opponent in front of their home fans.

On top of that, the fans in attendance will be doing a maize-out, all wearing the iconic secondary color for the program. As such, the all-blue look is going to pop even more, especially under the lights and the night sky of Ann Arbor.

After a strong win over Western Michigan last week, the Wolverines look to keep up the pace as they take on a Huskies team that lost to Montana in their opener. If look good, play good is actually true, Jim Harbaugh’s team should be one step closer to their second victory of the year.
