New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge debuted some memorable 9/11 memorial cleats that he’ll roll out against the Mets.

The Yankees and Mets are playing in the latest edition of the Subway Series on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 tragedy, in which over 3,000 people died and Americans’ lives were altered forever.

Baseball served as a distraction of sorts, and after a brief hiatus, it was deemed a necessary one. Judge, being one of the central figures in this series, will honor first responders who rushed into the crumbling Twin Towers on that fateful day with his cleats.

The game itself features two teams fighting for their playoff lives. The Mets are five games back of the Braves in the NL East, and a half-game behind the Phillies for second. The Queens team is four games behind the San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds for the second NL Wild Card spot, as well.

The Yankees, meanwhile, remain in a Wild Card spot…for now. The Blue Jays entered the day just a half-game behind New York for the second Wild Card spot. Their divisional chances are all but gone, as the Rays hold a 10-game lead over the Bronx Bombers at the moment.
