Brett Gardner wins the war with Mets by hitting Lindor and Baez with thumbs down (Video)
A benches-clearing tiff between the Yankees and Mets had Brett Gardner flashing the “thumbs down” at Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez.
The Yankees and Mets produced a social media dream on Sunday night with the benches-clearing over yapping between Giancarlo Stanton and Francisco Lindor.
Of all the memorable moments, Brett Gardner took the top prize.
The Yankees‘ outfielder responded to Lindor and Javier Baez telling him to go away by flashing the “thumbs down” at the two Mets players.
Brett Gardner’s “thumbs down” was the perfect response to the Mets
If you forgot, or have been living under a rock, the Mets got into trouble with fans and higher-ups for doing the “thumbs down” as a celebration aimed at criticizing fans. Baez lit a powder keg when he revealed it essentially meant they were booing fans as they had been booing them during struggles.
Knowing what a touchy subject that has been in the Mets clubhouse, Gardner turned it into the perfect trash talk response.
