The Alabama Crimson Tide visit the Florida Gators in a rematch of last year’s SEC Championship Game in Week 3 of college football.

Whenever the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators face one another, whether it’s in the SEC Championship Game like at the end of last season or in a crucial spot for the regular season, college football fans have to be invested. So it stands to reason that the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide visiting the No. 11-ranked Gators in Gainesville for a Week 3 September matchup will draw tons of interest both in terms of viewers and bettors.

This is a game in which we could learn quite a bit about each team. We’ve already seen Bryce Young and Alabama thrash Miami and then sleepwalk to a 30-point win over Mercer but Dan Mullen’s team presents the sternest test yet. On the flipside, Florida has been a class above FAU and South Florida in their two wins, so we’ll see them in their first true test of the 2021 season.

If you’re looking for how to bet this game or anything else you need to know, you came to the right place. We have all the betting info, streaming information and more you need for Alabama vs. Florida on Saturday in The Swamp.

It’s hard not to think that the way Nick Saban’s team handled Miami on a neutral site isn’t factoring into this line because we don’t often see teams both ranked in the top 15 (even if one is ranked No. 1) as 15.5-point favorites. Still, my lean is to take Bama against the spread because they’re in a class of their own outside of Georgia this season.

The point total is interesting given the quality of these defenses but Florida is capable of enough explosive plays — though not consistently or with Emory Jones — to put enough on the scoreboard that my lean is to the over.

Alabama vs. Florida Prediction Week 3

Even though Alabama has already played against Miami, this will be by far the best defense they’ve faced thus far in the young 2021 season. That will put young Bryce Young to the test. But then again, the Crimson Tide offense has faced plenty of good defenses over the past two seasons and that hasn’t stopped them before.

To take down this Bama team, Florida is going to have to match them offensive to some degree while just slowing them down incrementally. The last part, I believe they’re capable of. However, with Emory Jones remaining the starter, the offense just seems too mistake-prone and limited. Yes, Anthony Richardson is less experienced but his explosiveness simply offers the Gators a better chance to win.

So, without Richardson installed as the starter, this is going to be an Alabama win and pretty decisively so. Final Score: Alabama 38, Florida 20

Alabama Next Game and Schedule

  • Sept. 25: vs. Southern Miss
  • Oct. 2: vs. Ole Miss
  • Oct. 9: at Texas A&M
  • Oct. 16: at Mississippi State
  • Oct. 23: vs. Tennessee
  • Nov. 6: vs. LSU
  • Nov. 13: vs. New Mexico State
  • Nov. 20: vs. Arkansas
  • Nov. 27: at Auburn

You could make the argument that no team has a tougher schedule than the Crimson Tide. Florida will already be their second top-15 opponent in three games to start the year. Then, after they rough up Southern Miss, their next two games are against top-20 opponents. Furthermore, they have four total teams ranked inside the top 25 still on their schedule after this and that doesn’t include LSU. Buckle in for this slate.
