After a one point loss to the Dolphins in Week 1, what can we expect from the Patriots when they battle the Jets?

The New England Patriots came up one point short against the Miami Dolphins in the opening week of the NFL season. They now stare at a Week 2 matchup with their division rival, the New York Jets.

Here is what to expect from the Patriots, and how they’ll get their first win of the season.

5 bold predictions for Patriots-Jets this weekend

1. Mac Jones will continue to shine

Even in the Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Mac Jones played really well. He went 29/39 for 281 yards and a touchdown and finished with a passer rating of 102.6.

He spread the ball out, as well, completing passes to eight different players on the Patriots offense. Jones wasn’t the issue for New England on Sunday. The problem offensively was that they couldn’t put the ball in the end zone when they were in Dolphins territory, instead settling for three Nick Folk field goals.

The Jets defense has a lot of problems in the secondary. Sam Darnold and the Panthers exposed them multiple times, including a deep pass to Robby Anderson that went for a touchdown.

Darnold and the Panthers gave the Jets fits all day. And while you can make the argument that Carolina has more elite skill position players, New England is more spread out in terms of their talent at receiver and tight end.

Jones played great against one of the best secondaries that the league has to offer. If he can stay composed against Miami, he will put up even bigger numbers against a Jets defense that is still figuring things out.
