The offseason drama between the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons really won’t quit, will it? While trade rumors continue to swirl surrounding the star player, Philadelphia has made it more than clear that they won’t send Simmons out of town unless they get a quality offer.
Moving forward, the team is planning to have Simmons suit up for the squad in 2021-22 too. With that said, Simmons remains unhappy with his current situation. Knowing this, per Tom Moore, Philadelphia will be ready to fine Simmons if he doesn’t report to training camp.

Indeed, Moore is reporting that the 76ers will be ready to fine Simmons for each day he’s not at camp this fall. With things set to start later this month in Camden, it’s completely up in the air if Simmons will show up.
He previously told the team that he wanted to be traded. The relationship between the two sides really took a turn for the worse after Philadelphia was eliminated by Atlanta in a Game 7 postseason showdown at home. Simmons, as you might recall, passed up a wide open dunk late in the fourth quarter that would have tied the game. Folks couldn’t believe it, while Joel Embiid even called Simmons out.
At this point, it’s clear that Simmons wants a fresh start elsewhere, but Philly isn’t going to just let him walk away for nothing. Only time will tell if Simmons shows up for the first day of camp, but it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if he’s a no-show.
