The Cowboys earned a moral victory over the Buccaneers in Week 1, but Dak Prescott and his teammates need a conventional victory over the Chargers.

Cowboys fans should feel good about the way their team performed in their narrow Week 1 loss to Tampa Bay. Moral victories aren’t overly valuable in the NFL, but Dallas showed signs of being a strong playoff contender in their 31-29 defeat to Tampa Bay.

The franchise might prefer an easier Week 2 matchup than heading to Los Angeles for a second consecutive road game. The Chargers weren’t perfect in their Week 1 victory over Washington, but Justin Herbert continues to play like one of the most promising young signal-callers in the league.

The Cowboys desperately need to even their record at 1-1 with a win over Herbert and company. Here are five reasons why they can do just that.

5 reasons the Cowboys are going to beat the Chargers

5. Justin Herbert is due for regression

Most scouts believed Herbert might struggle to transition from college to the pros. Instead, he’s become an almost immediate star for Los Angeles. He’s due a bad game at some point.

This high-profile contest looks like a potential stumbling block for the former Oregon standout. The Cowboys don’t have a great defense, but their high-powered offense will heap pressure onto Herbert to match Dak Prescott and company score for score.

A mediocre game against Dallas isn’t going to change the course of Herbert’s career, but it could prove to be a reminder that he’s far from the finished article.
