Adam Trautman, New Orleans Saints

Rostered: 5.1%

I already mentioned Juwan Johnson, but he is not the only Saints’ tight end with upside. Adam Trautman actually led the Saints in targets against the Packers. Unfortunately, he finished the game with only three receptions for 18 yards.

Nevertheless, the Saints’ receiving core will continue to have elevated potential with Michael Thomas sidelined, and Trautman is a good candidate to capitalize on that.

While Johnson has higher red zone upside, Trautman is more likely to rack up receptions and receiving yards.

Last week was a statistical anomaly for the Saints’ passing offense. After halftime, the offense was receiving the ball in excellent field position. Their two touchdown drives in the third quarter started on Green Bay’s 21-yard line and Green Bay’s 12-yard line. As a result, Jameis Winston finished the game with only 148 passing yards.

Moving forward, Winston should throw the ball more downfield, and Trautman will have more opportunities to produce.

Albert Okwuegbunam, Denver Broncos

Only two tight ends were targeted twice within the ten-yard line in Week 1: Juwan Johnson and Albert Okwuegbunam. Okwuegbunam caught both of his targets and scored one touchdown.

Noah Fant is clearly the top tight end in Denver, but Okwuegbunam is a touchdown dependent streaming option.

Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was placed on the IR, so Okwuegbunam could see some additional targets this week against the Jaguars’ defense, which allowed the Texans’ offense to score 37 points last Sunday.
