Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney says his team was not to face Georgia Tech.

While the Clemson football team barely survived the Ramblin’ Wreck of Georgia Tech on Saturday night, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney admitted his team was not prepared for the Yellow Jackets defense one bit.

For a team that has won the ACC the last six years and has made the College Football Playoff each time, they almost lost at home to a rebuilding Georgia Tech football team. Though the Tigers were victorious, Tony Elliott and his offense managed just 14 points all afternoon. By admitting that nothing they prepared to go up against offensively, this is a bad look for the Tigers football team.

Clemson has scored only two touchdowns over eight quarters vs. Power Five competition in 2021.

Dabo Swinney admits his Clemson football team was not ready for Georgia Tech

One of the biggest criticisms Swinney has faced this year is his unwillingness to mix it up outside of the Clemson Family when it comes to his coaching staff. He leaned on running backs C.J. Spiller way too much in the Georgia loss. While Brent Venables is a mainstay running the defense, we have to wonder if Clemson will move on from Elliott at the end of the season. They cannot score.

Clemson may win the ACC and make the playoff, but it has a way to go to be championship-caliber.
