Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield left Week 2’s contest with a shoulder injury.

The last thing Cleveland Browns fans wanted to see was what Baker Mayfield hunched over leaving the field on Sunday afternoon.

Mayfield tried to make a tackle after throwing an interception early in the first half, but appeared to have injured his shoulder in the process. He left the field and headed straight to the medical tent, bent over and sending panic throughout the stadium.

Mayfield came back into the game after spending some time on the sideline and in the medical tent, but his shoulder injury is something to keep an eye on moving forward.

After the game, Baker commented on what happened and admitted that his shoulder popped “in and out” but said that it’s nothing to worry about.

A shoulder popping in and out certainly seems like something to worry about, but then again I’m not a doctor and it’s Baker’s shoulder. After coming back into the game, he did this:

So maybe we should trust his word on how his shoulder is feeling.

Browns depth chart: Browns backup QB

If Baker were to miss time at any point, whether due to the shoulder injury or something else, the Browns would turn to a familiar face for Kevin Stefanski: Case Keenum.

Stefanski was with Keenum in Minnesota back in 2017-18 when the Vikings went to the NFC Championship Game. That’s the same year the Minneapolis Miracle made Keenum a household name for a hot minute, but it was how Stefanski masterfully navigated the season with a backup quarterback that was the true standout takeaway.

That’s why Stefanski was chosen to be the Browns head coach and craft a winner (finally) in Cleveland. Losing Mayfield would be an obvious blow, but it wouldn’t be the first time Keenum and Stefanski partnered up to shock the world.
