1. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 3 – Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III

The top pickup of the week happens to also play for Las Vegas in the form of second-year wide receiver Henry Ruggs III. A disappointment in his rookie season, Ruggs had a breakout performance against the Steelers in Week 2, catching 5-of-7 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown.

The score came on a 61-yard reception, highlighting the big-play ability that led the Raiders to draft him in the first round last season. Not all rookie receivers explode onto the scene in their first year so it makes sense that it took Ruggs some time to make his mark in Las Vegas’ offense.

Ruggs tied for the team lead in targets Sunday with Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller, a nice follow-up to a five target effort in the Raiders’ Week 1 win over Baltimore. While Las Vegas’ passing offense runs through Waller, Ruggs’ speed makes him a more dynamic passing option than either Renfrow or fellow second-year receiver Bryan Edwards.

Rostered in just 45 percent of Yahoo leagues, Ruggs should be picked up immediately as an admittedly boom-or-bust flex option. The Raiders have some interesting matchups in the coming weeks so Ruggs is an ideal candidate to roll the dice on as a WR3 in Week 3 with the potential to be a matchup winner.
