Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons makes it known that he does not want to play another game for the team.

As if last season’s loss in the NBA playoffs wasn’t bad enough, the storm continues to brew for the Philadelphia 76ers after Ben Simmons made it clear on Tuesday morning that he will not be reporting for training camp next week.

The 2021-22 season is set to begin in less than a month and while it’s unclear where Simmons will end up, it definitely won’t be on the court at Wells Fargo Center. Well, he won’t be playing there with the home team, at least.

Ben Simmons says he will not attend Philadelphia 76ers training camp

Training camp begins for the Philadelphia 76ers next week and the No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft made it known that he will not be there.

Simmons has four years and $147 million remaining on his max contract, but instead of putting their sole focus on the upcoming season, the 76ers front office is dealing with their star player wanting out of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia’s goal to bring an NBA championship back to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time since 1983 has been a bit sabotaged. It’s not because the 76ers don’t want to move on from Ben necessarily, but because his contract and hardcore stance leaves them with little room to create a mutually beneficial agreement.

Will Philadelphia find a way to move him before the season opener? That’s hard to believe after the front office has struggled to do just that over the course of the past few months. Simmons will likely be fined if he continues to hold out, but that doesn’t seem to matter to him.
