Ohio State football player Dallas Gant has officially entered his name into the transfer portal.

Things have been better for the Ohio State football program, as senior linebacker Dallas Gant has entered the transfer portal after playing in all three games for the Buckeyes this season.

Gant may have been in more of a reserve role with the team, but he was a former four-star recruit coming out of Toledo in the 2018 recruiting class. After playing in 38 games for the Buckeyes, Gant is preserving his eligibility with all intentions of transferring. A reason potentially behind him entering the transfer portal to begin with is he has yet to make a start for Ohio State thus far.

With the way things are going for the Ohio State defense, this is not the move it was hoping for.

According to 247Sports, Gant had 22 official offers coming out of high school, but only took one official visit, which was to Ohio State. Given that his two primary recruiters in Greg Studrawa and Bill Davis are still in Columbus, it is hard to figure out where Gant could go next. He had Power Five offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Oregon and Wisconsin, as well as Group of Five Cincinnati.

If playing time is what Gant covets, he may have to go Group of Five or to a mid-tier Power Five.
