1. Kirk Cousins

Mike Zimmer doesn’t miss a single opportunity to criticize his quarterback in the media. That, combined with the Vikings’ 0-2 record puts Kirk Cousins’ job in serious jeopardy heading into Week 3.

Minnesota’s Week 3 opponent, the Seattle Seahawks don’t possess the same sort of unrelenting defense they did during the height of Pete Carroll’s tenure. They still have a unit talented enough to provide Cousins and the Vikings’ offense real problems on Sunday afternoon.

If Minnesota gets off to a rough start then their fans are going to serenade Cousins with boos. That’s all Zimmer will need to hand the ball over to rookie Kellen Mond. They drafted him to be Cousins’ long-term replacement but he could easily be thrust onto the field to save his team in the short term.

Cousins may be able to find another chapter to his NFL career with a different coach, but his time with Zimmer is effectively done. It’s only a matter of time before the Vikings pull the plug on him as a starter. It could easily occur against Seattle on Sunday.
