5 bold predictions for Vikings against Seahawks
By Josie Rohach
3. Greg Joseph will hit a clutch field goal in the fourth quarter
Yes, this take seems really, really bold. But if we put away our emotions and superstitions in favor of some logic, it isn’t too far fetched. Joseph already drilled an overtime-forcing fourth quarter field goal against the Bengals, and he hit two impressive ones through the uprights against Arizona. Those boots were from 53 and 52 yards respectively, so nobody can argue that Joseph is incapable of making the plays.
Amidst the rage and despair of Vikings fans last week, Zimmer made it a point to praise Joseph and shut down everyone who blamed the loss on his kicker, saying “lots of kickers miss field goals. So let’s give the kid a break, okay?” If Zimmer is jumping to someone’s defense, then maybe Vikings fans can put down their pitchforks for at least another week.
There may be a kicking curse in Minnesota, and Joseph may continue to disappoint if the game falls on him in overtime, but he’ll at least save the disaster until the last moment as he hits a clutch field goal in the fourth to keep the Vikings’ 1-2 hopes alive.
