At long last, White Sox fans get their blackout

The Chicago White Sox are asking fans to wear black to the team’s home postseason games. 

The Chicago White Sox clinched the AL Central on Thursday for the first time in 13 years with a 7-2 win over the Cleveland Indians, and the team has a special request for fans. To those who are attending the postseason games at Guaranteed Rate Field, wear black.

The White Sox are embracing a blackout theme for the entire month of October. Fans who attend the first home game will also receive black rally towels as an extra incentive to cheer on Chicago.

Fans have been hoping that the White Sox would once again give the green light on the blackout theme during the most exciting part of the season.

It’s the first time in franchise history that Chicago has made it to the postseason in back-to-back seasons. The White Sox have one of the most exciting players in the MLB in All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson, who hit two home runs in Thursday’s win.

Hopefully the fun won’t be over anytime soon in Chicago. Fans are going to show up decked out in black and ready to watch postseason baseball on the Southside.

As of right now, it appears as if the White Sox will face the Houston Astros in the ALDS, with Houston holding the home-field advantage. The first game in Chicago won’t only feature a blackout theme, but probably a lot of booing, too.
