How will the college football rankings change in light of Notre Dame’s win over Wisconsin? The Fighting Irish still need help to make the Top 10.

It hasn’t always been pretty, but Notre Dame football is 4-0 and wondering when they’ll get recognition as a Top 10 team in the rankings. Notre Dame entered Saturday’s game vs. Wisconsin in Soldier Field as an underdog, despite being ranked higher in the AP Top 25.

On Saturday, the Irish played a tough game against No. 18 Wisconsin before piling on the points late for a 41-13 victory to prove they should be ranked higher in the Week 5 college football rankings.

Will that win be enough for the voters to give them a boost?

Projected college football Top 10 after Week 4

  1. Alabama
  2. Georgia
  3. Oregon
  4. Oklahoma
  5. Iowa
  6. Penn State
  7. Texas A&M
  8. Cincinnati
  9. Clemson
  10. Ohio State

Notre Dame’s hopes of making it into the Top 10 hinge on Texas A&M losing to Arkansas. Should they lose to Arkansas they’d drop out and make room for the Fighting Irish to move into the bottom of the top 10.

Potential struggles for Clemson and Ohio State are possible doors for Notre Dame as well. The Tigers are taking on NC State while the Buckeyes have a backup starting at quarterback for their battle with Akron.

However, the Irish would have to leap over Florida, who is playing Tennessee, to get one of those 10 spots if any of those teams stumble.

The only certainty is the second loss of the season for Wisconsin will see them drop out of the Top 25 entirely.

Notre Dame fans may not have to wait long for a trip into the Top 10. Next week they will face No. 8 Cincinnati with a shot to make a statement.
