Texas football has had some great offenses and Steve Sarkisian is trying to take them higher, but the record for points in a game will be tough to beat.

In Week 4 of the 2021 season, Texas football let the Big 12 know what Steve Sarkisian’s offense can look like at its peak.

The Longhorns lit up Texas Tech for 70 points. Even that scoring output was three touchdowns shy of the program record for points in a game.

The Texas football record for points in a game is 92

The Texas record for points in a game remains in the hands of the 1915 team. Those Longhorns beat Daniel Baker College 92-0. That was good for the most points and the largest margin of victory in school history.

The next highest scoring outing for the Longhorns was 81 points at TCU in 1974.

Their most recent output of outrageous scoring levels was in 2005. The 70-point scoring fest against Texas Tech matched the one from Vince Young and the Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship Game against Colorado. Those games are tied for the ninth most points all-time at Texas.
