Fans speculate whether Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was significantly hurt after fall to recover fumble against Los Angeles Chargers.

Staring at an 11-point halftime deficit, Patrick Mahomes engineered an impressive comeback that positioned his Chiefs ahead of the Chargers early in the fourth quarter.

But in order to get ahead, Mahomes took a fall that could prove costly in the long run.

Right before their second score in the third quarter, Mahomes fumbled the ball and fell on it to maintain possession. The Chiefs kept the ball, but Mahomes appeared to be nursing his left side after throwing the touchdown pass.

However, former Chiefs teammate Mitchell Schwartz has a different theory: perhaps Mahomes got hurt while falling on the ball to recover the fumble.

Patrick Mahomes may have gotten injured in third quarter of Chargers game

As Mahomes continued on another touchdown-bound drive, he appeared to be in fit form as he slings his usual passes. So far, his passes have all been under 15 yards, which could indicate a little soreness that limits his throwing ability. Rather than a 50-yard bomb, Mahomes whittled down the Chargers on a methodical drive that ended in a Mecole Hardman jet sweep touchdown.

It’s all speculation at this point, but it appears that even if Mahomes is slightly injured, he’s still healthy enough to suit up and finish the game.

Hopefully that whatever he’s playing through at the moment won’t limit him in the weeks to come.
