The Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings face off in a Week 3 matchup in Minnesota.

Entering Week 3, neither the Seattle Seahawks nor the Minnesota Vikings imagined they’d be where they are. The Seahawks won convincingly against the Colts in Week 1 but lost a tightly contested overtime game to Tennessee last week. The Vikings on the other hand, have close losses to both the Bengals and the Cardinals to start the season.

But both teams look to right the ship when they face off this week but the Vikings will have to do it without their star running back Dalvin Cook, who is out for the game.

Based on their first couple of games, Seattle looks destined for another postseason finish. It’s what is least expected for this team with Russell Wilson at the helm. In his 10th season, the 32-year-old quarterback has entrenched his name in early-MVP talk with 6 touchdowns and no interceptions on nearly 600 yards and a 74-percent completion rate.

He’s off to another great start and so is his best receiver, Tyler Lockett. In two games, Lockett has 12 receptions for three scores; his 278 yards are good for fourth in the league.

For all the good their eighth-ranked offense produces, the Seahawks defense has been an eye-sore. They’re currently the 30th-ranked team in yards allowed and have given up the second-most rushing yards. Seattle should have more success against the run this week because the Vikings won’t have Cook.

At 0-2, the Vikings need a win desperately and should play like it. Though they are two-point underdogs, losing against the Seahawk might spell trouble for the organization as it won’t only lead to more credence to head coach Mike Zimmer being on the hot seat but it would widen the magnifying glass on quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The ten-year pro is easily the best quarterback on the Vikings roster and has had a good start to the season with 595 yards, five touchdowns and no turnovers, however, his play hasn’t translated to wins yet. In the three prior seasons in Minnesota, Cousins has only been to the playoff once.

Getting the upset against the Seahawks would be a big boost to his confidence and the team’s assurance in him. Albeit, Cousins may be forced to throw a lot more this week thanks to the absence of Cook. He’ll look to spread the wealth to his receiving core early and often.
