Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz visited the ESPN booth during Sunday night’s game against the New York Yankees and Alex Rodriguez was far too nice to him.

The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox – MLB’s greatest rivalry. That is until David Ortiz visited the ESPN booth during Sunday night’s matchup between the two teams. Former Yankee Alex Rodriguez was throwing compliments left and right to Ortiz and leaving fans wondering if there even is still a strong hatred between the two franchises.

A-Rod is no stranger to being booed at Yankee Stadium, but after making some questionable comments to Ortiz, he should avoid the Bronx for a while.

Alex Rodriguez’s obsession with David Ortiz is ruining the New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox rivalry

New York swept Boston over the weekend and while the Red Sox finished the regular season with the 10-9 upper hand over the Yankees, Rodriguez’s David Ortiz fascination is one of the main takeaways from Sunday night’s thriller.

New York fans can be a tough crowd to begin with, but one thing you should never do is talk bad about Derek Jeter. It doesn’t matter if you’re a former Yankee or not.

A-Rod won a World Series with Jeter, too. Derek is still reeling off of his National Baseball Hall of Fame induction, but he probably wouldn’t bat an eye over what Rodriguez said.

Ortiz hit .289 with a .404 OBP during the 85 playoff games that he played in over the course of his career. Jeter had a .308 average with a .374 OBP during his 158 postseason games.

Maybe David Ortiz is one of the most clutch playoff hitters of all time, but A-Rod should’ve saved that comment for outside of the booth.

Let’s go back to the regularly scheduled Yankees-Red Sox hatred.
