The Kansas City Chiefs depth chart at wide receiver looks more formidable with Josh Gordon in the mix to help Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill.

After suffering two straight losses, the Chiefs just made a huge move to give Patrick Mahomes some much-needed help at wide receiver.

Kansas City is taking advantage of Josh Gordon’s reinstatement to bring in the former Pro Bowl pass catcher.

Gordon is undoubtedly a talented receiver and the Chiefs have struggled to identify a clear WR2 opposite Tyreek Hill. They’ll look to Gordon to fill that role, but it might take some time for him to take over a starting spot.

Kansas City Chiefs depth chart with Josh Gordon

Here’s how things stack up for Patrick Mahomes now that Josh Gordon has joined rank:

WR1

  • Tyreek Hill
  • Byron Pringle
  • Marcus Kemp

WR2

  • Mecole Hardman
  • Josh Gordon
  • Demarcus Robinson
  • Daurice Fountain

Kansas City has tried to use Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle as second options for Mahomes, with Hardman standing out from that group.

The thing to remember is that Gordon hasn’t played in the NFL since 2019. Hardman should hold onto his starting job until Gordon forces him out.

Josh Gordon NFL stats: What does he bring to Chiefs?

Gordon looked like a star for the Browns as a rookie in 2012, posting 805 yards and five touchdowns on 50 catches. He proved he wasn’t a one-season wonder in 2013 with 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013. Since then his career has been a rollercoaster.

He played in just five games in 2014 and had 303 yards. The next two years he was suspended. When he came back in 2017 he again had 335 yards in five appearances.

His stats have actually been fairly consistent when he’s played. In 11 games with the Patriots in 2018, he had 720 yards and three touchdowns on 40 catches.

However, in his most recent NFL season, he started one of five games with the Seahawks and had seven catches for 139 yards.

In his career, Gordon has averaged 67.5 yards per game, but his catch percentage of 53.5 percent is a worry.

Josh Gordon height and weight

Gordon stands 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, giving him a length advantage over most cornerbacks.

He’ll be the tallest receiver on the roster for the Chiefs aside from Marcus Kemp at 6-foot-4.
