White Sox closer Liam Hendriks was absolutely fired up about closing out the Tigers after the two teams brawled in the ninth inning.

Tempers flared during the ninth inning between the White Sox and Tigers. So it’s only fitting the game ended with an emotional outburst from Liam Hendriks.

Chicago’s closer let loose an expletive or two while celebrating the victory.

Henriks had a right to be pumped there. He got Niko Goodrum out looking to end it.

The game got testy over an incident involving Jose Abreu. The first baseman was hit by a pitch in the top of the ninth when the Tigers went inside on him. He then slid into second base aggressively and Detroit took offense. The benches ended up clearing.

Once things calmed down, the White Sox still had to protect a one-run lead in the final frame. Henriks gave up a single to start the inning, but he closed out the inning with a line out and two strikeouts.

The save was Hendriks’ 37th of the season. He has an ERA of 2.61 this year with hopes of being a difference-maker in the playoffs.

Chicago has already clinched the AL Central but there could still be drama left in the regular season. After two games against the Reds, the White Sox will face off with Detroit three more times to finish out the campaign.
