Emory Jones accomplished something only Tim Tebow did before him in Florida football lore.

Florida football star Emory Jones joins Tim Tebow in elite company after what he did to Tennessee on Saturday night.

Jones used his arms and his legs to crush the Gators’ SEC East rival in The Swamp. He completed 21-of-27 passes for 209 yards and touchdowns through the air, as well as having 15 carries for 144 yards on the ground. Florida won 38-14 to improve to 3-1 on the year. Jones joined Tebow as the only other Florida player with two passing touchdowns and 140 rushing yards in a game.

This performance will go a long way toward keeping backup Anthony Richardson from taking his starting job.

Emory Jones played like Tim Tebow to dismantle Tennessee in the Swamp

Even if Tennessee is realistically the sixth-best team in the SEC East and only a borderline bowl team, a win over a traditional rival is a win. Florida bounced back marvelously after taking top-ranked Alabama to the brink in Week 3. The Gators need to play as well as they did last Saturday if they want to avoid being upset by a feisty Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Saturday night.

Richardson may push Jones, but the starting quarterback is coming off his best game of the year.
