Carlos Correa will likely be in a new uniform on Opening Day next season, which means MLB Rumors is heating up just in time for winter.

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a ton of MLB Postseason drama brewing in the American League in the final days of the regular season. Even as fascinating as the race for the Wild Card is — and all the potential chaos that it could create — the teams outside of the postseason chase are already looking at what can be done this winter to ensure they’re a part of the fun this time next year.

One free agent-to-be is already getting a head start on shaping the market. Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa dominated headlines before the season with rumors that he could be traded, but now that he’s hitting the open market that interest — and the rumors — are going to intensify once again.

MLB Rumors: Carlos Correa free agency is starting to heat up

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the market for Correa’s talents is already heating up.

“Tigers are one team interested in Carlos Correa, whose 7.0 WAR ranks him 3rd in AL. Set himself up nicely,” Heyman reported on Friday. He also points out that despite there being interest throughout the American League, the connection to Correa’s former manager in Detroit might tip the scales.

“Rangers, Yankees, Twins among others teams likely in an all-time great SS market. In Detroit, there’s an AJ Hinch link.”

The projected free agent market for shortstops is going to be insane this winter.
