What’s the highest finish for an Ole Miss player in the Heisman Trophy voting?

Ole Miss quarterback entered the Week 5 game vs. Alabama as the betting favorite to win the Heisman. If he does, he’ll be the first in Rebels history to take home the honor.

Before him, the highest finish for an Ole Miss player in the Heisman Trophy voting was when Eli Manning finished third in 2003.

Arch Manning finished fourth in 1969 and third in 1970.

Jake Gibbs finished third in 1960 behind Navy’s Joe Bellino.

Mannings tied for the highest finish for an Ole Miss player in Heisman voting

Eli, Arch’s youngest son, lost to Oklahoma quarterback Jason White, but he had the better NFL career. Eli was the No. 1 pick, won two Super Bowls and White was undrafted and never played in the NFL.

Arch finished behind Stanford quarterback Jim Plunkett in 1970 and Oklahoma running back Steve Owens in 1969.

Arch’s grandson Archie Manning, Eli’s nephew and son of Cooper Manning, is visiting Alabama for their game vs. Ole Miss. He’s the top recruit in the Class of 2023 and if he attends Ole Miss could be the third Manning to finish as a Heisman finalist.

Or he could be the first Manning to win a Heisman, something Peyton Manning, didn’t do either at Tennessee when he was the runner-up to Charles Woodson.
