New York Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay has been extra rusty down the stretch, backing up his bad Giancarlo Stanton call with an Anthony Rizzo home run catastrophe.

Kay has one of the more recognizable voices in all of baseball, specifically as it pertains to New York sports. So when he messes up, the entire baseball world takes notice.

Hence, I’m here to deliver.

On Thursday night, Giancarlo Stanton gave the Yankees a 6-2 lead over the Toronto Blue Jays with a home run that was clear as day. Instead of getting hyped for the moment, Kay gave fans the “if it’s fair it’s gone” treatment. What?

Nope! It was long gone!

Yankees: It only got worse for Michael Kay

It only got worse over the weekend. With the Yankees struggling against the Tampa Bay Rays in a series that could help them clinch the top AL Wild Card spot, Kay suggested Anthony Rizzo tied the game with a home run when he…didn’t do anything of the sort.

Woof. To be clear, Rizzo’s home run made the score 3-1. The Yankees were down two runs even after Rizzo’s blast, and would quickly fall to an even greater deficit thanks to Brandon Lowe.
