Georgia Bulldogs quarterback JT Daniels continues to work his way back from injury but his status for the Auburn game on Saturday is in question.

After being held out against Arkansas, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback JT Daniels returns to practice with his sights set on starting the upcoming game against the Auburn Tigers.

Daniels, who is dealing with a lat injury, is participating in the Bulldogs’ practice but in a limited capacity.

Daniels opened the season as the starter but has missed two games due to injury. If he is ready to go this Saturday, he is likely to start against Auburn.

JT Daniels is inching closer toward returning for the Auburn game

In the two Georgia games that Daniels missed, senior quarterback Stetson Bennett filled in. Against UAB, when Daniels was battling an oblique injury, Bennett stepped in and threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns.

In his second start this weekend against Arkansas, Bennett only threw 72 yards completing 7-of-11 passes while leaning on the 273 rushing yards of the offense and a defense that didn’t allow a point.

Although both quarterbacks have played well in their time on the field, much hasn’t been demanded of them due to their dominant defense. The Bulldogs defense just recorded their second straight shutout and has only allowed one touchdown this season in five games.

Defensive performances like these give No. 2 Georgia and their offense room for error. It also gives Daniels time to recover from injury properly.

Between the defense and Bennett’s production when playing, the Bulldogs don’t need to rush Daniels back on the field. Instead, he can focus on being healthy for a Georgia playoff run. Daniels’ health will continue to be monitored leading to Saturday’s game.

Georgia can beat Auburn with Bennett under center. They don’t want to risk playing Daniels at less than 100 percent and risk losing him for more time, including the Florida game.

More information on Daniels and his availability for Auburn will be known later this week.
