The New York Yankees will do their best to advance past the Boston Red Sox to the ALDS.

It all comes down to this, as the Boston Red Sox will host the New York Yankees in the 2021 AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.

Despite posting identical 92-70 records on the year, the Red Sox won the tiebreaker over the Yankees, so Boston will host this win-or-go-home game at Fenway Park. The winner of this game will face the top-seeded Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS. Tampa Bay is poised to get back to the World Series for the second straight season, possibly winning its first title in franchise history.

Here is the lineup Aaron Boone will have to work with to try to get past the Red Sox on Tuesday.

New York Yankees AL Wild Card roster revealed

Boone is going with 5.5 infielders and outfielders in this game, as utility man Tyler Wade could play at either position group. Interestingly enough, Boone is going with three catchers in this game, as the Yankees have Rob Brantly, Kyle Higashioka and Gary Sanchez on the AL Wild Card Game roster. He also has 12 pitchers available, including Tuesday night’s starter in Gerrit Cole.

Overall, the Yankees’ AL Wild Card Game roster has the necessary balance to be able to win this pivotal game. From the looks of it, Boone wants to win this game with power pitching and power bats, as the pitching staff is stacked with relievers and the position-player spots all have guys who can absolutely rake. Look for this one vs. Boston to plate many runs for everyone’s entertainment.

In a game like this on the road vs. a bitter rival, the Yankees can’t hold anything back whatsoever.
